FIRE & EXPLOSION | Combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire. Risk of fire and explosion as a result of decomposition when heated. | NO open flames. NO contact with water. | Use powder, carbon dioxide, water in large amounts. In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water. NO direct contact with water. Combat fire from a sheltered position. |

TLV: (inhalable fraction and vapour): 0.001 ppm as TWA; 0.005 ppm as STEL; (skin); (DSEN); (RSEN); A3 (confirmed animal carcinogen with unknown relevance to humans); BEI issued. MAK: (vapour and aerosol): 0.007 mg/m3, 0.001 ppm; peak limitation category: I(1); (momentary value that should not be exceeded): 0.035 mg/m3, 0.005 ppm; pregnancy risk group: C; sensitization of respiratory tract and skin (SAH) |
ENVIRONMENT |
---|
The substance is harmful to aquatic organisms. The substance may cause long-term effects in the aquatic environment. |
NOTES |
---|
Decomposes slowly in water or acidic solutions forming carbon disulfide and amines. The symptoms of asthma often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential. Anyone who has shown symptoms of asthma due to this substance should avoid all further contact. The odour warning when the exposure limit value is exceeded is insufficient. See ICSC 0339. |
