  ACUTE HAZARDS PREVENTION FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE & EXPLOSION Highly flammable. Cylinder may explode in heat of fire. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.  Risk of fire and explosion on contact with air. See Chemical Dangers. Gas/air mixtures are explosive.  NO open flames, NO sparks and NO smoking.  NO contact with air. Closed system, ventilation, explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting. Use non-sparking handtools.  Evacuate area, fight fires only from an explosion-resistant location. Shut off supply; if not possible and no risk to surroundings, let the fire burn itself out. In other cases extinguish with water spray.  In case of fire: keep cylinder cool by spraying with water.

 AVOID ALL CONTACT!
  SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID
Inhalation Dizziness. Headache. Visual disturbances. Suffocation. Unconsciousness.  Use ventilation.  Fresh air, rest. Seek medical attention if you feel unwell.
Skin ON CONTACT WITH LIQUID: FROSTBITE.  Cold-insulating gloves. Protective clothing.  ON FROSTBITE: rinse with plenty of water, do NOT remove clothes. Refer immediately for medical attention.
Eyes ON CONTACT WITH LIQUID: FROSTBITE.  Wear face shield.  ON FROSTBITE: rinse with plenty of water. Refer immediately for medical attention.
Ingestion

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL CLASSIFICATION & LABELLING
Evacuate danger area! Consult an expert! Personal protection: self-contained breathing apparatus. Remove all ignition sources. Shut off cylinder if possible. Ventilation. Remove gas with fine water spray.

According to UN GHS Criteria

flam;flamecylinder;gascancer;health haz
Extremely flammable gas
Contains gas under pressure; may explode if heated
May cause cancer if inhaled
May cause damage to kidneys, liver and blood if inhaled

Transportation
UN Classification
UN Hazard Class: 2.1

STORAGE
Fireproof. Cool. Keep in a well-ventilated room. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for proper storage conditions. Separated from : see Chemical Dangers.
PACKAGING
Transport only if stabilized.
TETRAFLUOROETHYLENE ICSC: 1779
PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL INFORMATION

Physical State; Appearance
COLOURLESS ODOURLESS GAS.

Physical dangers
The gas is heavier than air and may travel along the ground; distant ignition possible.

Chemical dangers
Decomposes on heating and on burning. This produces toxic and corrosive gases including hydrogen fluoride (See ICSC 0283). The substance may spontaneously polymerize under certain conditions. See Notes. Reacts violently with aluminium, halogens and oxidizing substances. This generates fire and explosion hazard.

Boiling point: -75.9°C
Melting point: -131.2°C
Density (at -76°C): 1.5 g/cm³
Solubility in water, mg/l at 25°C: 159 (very slightly soluble)
Vapour pressure, kPa at 20°C: 2947
Relative vapour density (air = 1): 3.9

EXPOSURE & HEALTH EFFECTS

Routes of exposure
Exposure mainly occurs via inhalation.

Effects of short-term exposure
Asphyxiation. See Notes. The liquid may cause frostbite.

Inhalation risk
On loss of containment this substance can cause serious risk of suffocation when in confined areas.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
The substance may have effects on the kidneys, liver and blood. This may result in impaired functions of organs. This substance is probably carcinogenic to humans.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS
TLV: 8.2 mg/m3, 2 ppm, as TWA; A3 (confirmed animal carcinogen with unknown relevance to humans).
MAK: carcinogen category: 2

ENVIRONMENT

NOTES
Check oxygen content before entering area.
High concentrations in the air cause a deficiency of oxygen with the risk of unconsciousness or death.
If not stabilized, the substance may spontaneously polymerize on contact with air and under the influence of increasing temperature and/or pressure. Consult your supplier.
