  ACUTE HAZARDS PREVENTION FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE & EXPLOSION Combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.  Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air.  NO open flames.  Closed system, dust explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting. Prevent deposition of dust.  Use foam, powder, carbon dioxide.

PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! AVOID ALL CONTACT!
  SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID
Inhalation   Use local exhaust or breathing protection.  Fresh air, rest.
Skin   Protective gloves. Protective clothing.  Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower.
Eyes Redness. Pain.  Wear safety goggles or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.  First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then refer for medical attention.
Ingestion   Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.  Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Refer for medical attention .

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL CLASSIFICATION & LABELLING
Personal protection: particulate filter respirator adapted to the airborne concentration of the substance. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. Sweep spilled substance into covered sealable containers. Carefully collect remainder. Then store and dispose of according to local regulations.

PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL INFORMATION

Physical State; Appearance
WHITE POWDER OR GRANULES

Physical dangers
Dust explosion possible if in powder or granular form, mixed with air.

Chemical dangers
The substance may polymerize due to heating to more than 120°C for more than 12 hours, or under the influence of catalysts. Decomposes on burning. This produces toxic fumes including nitrogen oxides. The molten form reacts rapidly with primary and secondary amines, carboxylic acids and anhydrides, thiols, phenols and alcohols.

Formula: C12H15N3O6
Molecular mass: 297.3
Melting point: 95°C
Solubility in water, g/100ml at 25°C: 0.9 (technical grade)
Flash point: >170°C c.c. (technical grade)
Auto-ignition temperature: >200°C (technical grade)
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: -0.8 (technical grade)

EXPOSURE & HEALTH EFFECTS

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.

Effects of short-term exposure
The substance is severely irritating to the eyes. The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system, kidneys, liver, lungs and gastrointestinal tract. This may result in tissue lesions.

Inhalation risk
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly when dispersed, especially if powdered.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. May cause heritable genetic damage to human germ cells.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS
TLV: 0.05 mg/m3, as TWA.
MAK: sensitization of respiratory tract and skin (SAH)
