	ACUTE HAZARDS	PREVENTION	FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE & EXPLOSION	Flammable. Above 48°C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.	NO open flames, NO sparks and NO smoking. Above 48°C use a closed system, ventilation and explosion-proof electrical equipment.	Use powder, foam, carbon dioxide, water. In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.

	SYMPTOMS	PREVENTION	FIRST AID
Inhalation	Cough. Sore throat. Burning sensation. Drowsiness. Lethargy.	Use ventilation, local exhaust or breathing protection.	Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration may be needed. Refer immediately for medical attention.
Skin	MAY BE ABSORBED! Dry skin. Redness. Pain. Blisters.	Protective gloves. Protective clothing.	Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention .
Eyes	Redness. Pain. Blurred vision. Severe deep burns.	Wear face shield, safety goggles or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.	First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then refer for medical attention.
Ingestion	Burning sensation. Headache. Dullness. Drowsiness. Nausea. Vomiting.	Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.	Rinse mouth. Give one or two glasses of water to drink. Refer immediately for medical attention.

Explosive limits are unknown in literature, although the substance is combustible and has a flash point < 61°C. Use of alcoholic beverages enhances the harmful effect. Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is suggested. The symptoms of lung oedema often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential. The odour warning when the exposure limit value is exceeded is insufficient. Check for peroxides prior to distillation; eliminate if found.
