  ACUTE HAZARDS PREVENTION FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE & EXPLOSION Combustible.  Above 93°C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.  NO open flames.  Above 93°C use a closed system and ventilation.  Use water spray, powder, foam, carbon dioxide.  Combat fire from a sheltered position. 

 PREVENT GENERATION OF MISTS! STRICT HYGIENE! AVOID ALL CONTACT! IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR! 
  SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID
Inhalation Headache. Dizziness. Weakness. Vomiting. Convulsions. Unconsciousness. Symptoms may be delayed. See Notes.  Use ventilation, local exhaust or breathing protection.  Fresh air, rest. Refer immediately for medical attention. 
Skin MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness. Further see Inhalation.  Protective gloves. Protective clothing.  Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer immediately for medical attention . 
Eyes Redness.  Wear face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.  First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then refer for medical attention. 
Ingestion Headache. Dizziness. Weakness. Vomiting. Convulsions. Diarrhoea. Unconsciousness.  Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.  Rinse mouth. Refer immediately for medical attention. 

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL CLASSIFICATION & LABELLING
Evacuate danger area! Consult an expert! Personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. Ventilation. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. Collect leaking liquid in sealable containers. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent. Then store and dispose of according to local regulations.

The vapour is heavier than air. 

Chemical dangers
Decomposes on heating. This produces toxic fumes of lead. Reacts violently with strong oxidants, acids and halogens. This generates fire and explosion hazard. Attacks rubber, some forms of plastic and coatings.

The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, through the skin and by ingestion. 

Effects of short-term exposure
The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system. This may result in nervous disorders and unconsciousness. Exposure at high levels could cause death. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated. 

Inhalation risk
A harmful contamination of the air can be reached rather quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C. 

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
The substance may have effects on the central nervous system. This may result in mental and memory disturbances, nervous system impairment, peripheral nerve damage and cardiac disorders. May cause toxicity to human reproduction or development.

Tetraethyl lead used as an anti-knock compound in gasoline also contains ethylene dibromide and ethylene dichloride as impurities.
